the work you don't see

When a designer specs a sofa at a certain size, upholstered in a specific Pierre Frey fabric to arrive in the Hamptons on an exact date in mid-July, I make sure that happens. I create the PO, coordinate with the mill(s), arrange international shipping, manage customs, and communicate with the delivery team(s) so that sofa arrives white glove and on time.

My work involves aligning the design and logistical details from the moment a design is approved. As the operations producer, I step in early and stay involved until load-in. My role is to protect the designers’ time so they can focus on the clients, on the creative, and moving each project forward… I’m always a few steps ahead.

It’s often the small things that make people feel looked after. The way we care for the client experience is reflected in the steps we’ve shaped into our process. I support that experience by preventing disruption before it begins. This means catching a shipping delay before it becomes a problem, or simply making sure customs paperwork is correct the first time. These aren’t dramatic moments, just quiet checks that keep everything in motion.

Keeping a close eye on timelines and vendor progress is a big part of what I do. Every item ordered is tracked through its journey. I build and monitor delivery schedules to align with construction timelines, installation windows, and scheduled load-ins. We work on multiple large-scale projects at once, and nothing can fall through the cracks.

The load-in is always one of my favourite parts. Until that moment, I’m working with each piece on its own. But when everything arrives and comes together in the space, it becomes something different. It’s so amazing to watch a room begin to feel the way the design team imagined. I always take a moment to stand back and look around…It allows me to see how a space is never just about what’s placed inside it, but how they relate to one another, and to the space itself.

It is a good reminder that the magic isn’t only in what you see. It’s also in everything you never had to think about.

Warm sun, sparkling water…not a bad office for the day.
